Court Comfort Kits

In partnership with community victim services in Nanaimo, BC, the Court Comfort Kits were created by a victim of crime for other victims. The kits are individually curated and handmade. Each kit contains tools and techniques to help victims in their journey through the criminal justice system. Testifying in court is a challenging and overwhelming event. The court comfort kits provide victims with items they will need when preparing to testify while testifying on the stand, and in between and after court appearances. These kits are given to victims shortly before their trial and are entirely funded by donations.

  • A colouring book (My LIFESAVER) for the waiting before testifying and during breaks.

  • Colouring pencils and a sharpener.

  • A word search book to keep the brain busy but not as difficult as a crossword or a sudoku.

  • A notebook to write court prep notes, play tic-tac-toe, doodle or anything else your heart desires.

  • A pencil case with pencils, pens, sharpener, erasers and a few other things

  • Tori tested and approved testimony fidgets that can be brought on the stand

  • A pack of gum and some sour candies.

  • 100% bring the lip balm with you on the stand and in the courtroom. It's minty to ground you, and courtrooms are incredibly dry.

  • An emergency supply of Skittles.

  • Shower steamers. I found that showering after court was the hardest part of my day and having something to look forward to using in the shower made it less daunting.

  • Tea. It's basically a warm hug in a cup.

  • And other goodies hand-picked by Tori <3
